Senior diplomats from the Middle East will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Amman, Jordan today (November 4) to discuss the situation in the Israeli-Hamas conflict.

Jordan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that ministers from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Qatar will meet with senior officials from the Palestinian government, a step aimed at halting fighting in the Gaza Strip and stopping civilian casualties. Following this, they will meet with Mr. Blinken.

Bloomberg News reported that the meeting was scheduled after Mr. Blinken returned to the Middle East and met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Mr. Blinken said more must be done to protect Palestinian civilians trapped amidst Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip, a shift in stance that underscores the growing U.S. concerns about the humanitarian impact of the war between Israel and Hamas.
