His Majesty the King appoints "Maris Seng-Iamphong", former "Thaksin" protégé, as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing "Panprith Pahitthanukorn".
Royal Gazette website Announcement of the appointment of ministers, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has graciously appointed Mr. Maris Saengiamphong As Minister of Foreign Affairs Instead of Mr. Panpri Pahitthanukorn who has resigned from his position from now on.

The new Foreign Minister graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ramkhamhaeng University and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Ohio University, USA.
For his work history, “Maris Seng-Iamphong” has been on the diplomatic path at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having held important positions such as:
- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Commonwealth of Australia
- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Fiji
- Ambassador of Kathmandu, Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
- Thai Ambassador to Ottawa, Canada, before retirement
He also worked at the Department of International Organizations, the Department of Information, the Department of International Economic Affairs, and was a civil servant who was assigned to Government House during the time when Thaksin Shinawatra was Prime Minister, after having worked closely with Thaksin since he was Minister of Foreign Affairs during the government of Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai.
