Credit Bureau warns banks to be careful about reporting debt repayment status of flood victims

Credit Bureau sends a letter to banks to be careful about reporting debt repayment status for customers who are participating in the flood relief project. The bank must report the customer's status without being considered a default if the customer can fully comply with the agreement or relaxation of the financial institution member.
On August 29, 2567, Mr. Surapol Opasathien, Managing Director of Credit Bureau, revealed that due to the floods or natural disasters that occurred in several provinces in the northern region of the country, a number of people and customers of member financial institutions have been affected by the incident.
As part of the Thai financial institution system, the Credit Bureau has issued a letter to more than 158 member banks and financial institutions asking them if any member financial institutions have measures/projects to help flood victims by relaxing or extending the debt repayment period without it being considered a default if the customer can fully comply with the agreement or relaxation of the financial institution member.
The Credit Bureau has therefore issued a letter requesting cooperation from member financial institutions to exercise caution in reporting and submitting customer credit information from the August 2567 data period onwards. This should be based on the factual information as per the policies of the member financial institutions that have granted leniency or exemptions, in order to prevent issues regarding data accuracy or discrepancies between submitted information and the facts or agreements that the member financial institution has granted to customers, which could lead to complaints. Specifically, during the period when member financial institutions have granted leniency to customers, the member financial institutions may choose to report and submit debt repayment information under the "normal" or "deferred" account status codes, in accordance with the Credit Information Protection Committee's announcement regarding account status codes dated July 27, 2565.
Once the situation returns to normal, customers can check their credit report to verify the accuracy of their information. The Credit Bureau offers several channels for the general public to check their credit reports, including: Credit Bureau Centers, online credit bureau checks via mobile apps from Bangkok Bank, Kiatnakin Phatra, Krung Thai Bank, Government Savings Bank, TTB, SME D Bank, Pao Tang, Flash Express, or by submitting a request at bank counters of Krung Thai Bank, Krungsri Bank, Government Housing Bank, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, or at ATMs of Krung Thai Bank and Siam Commercial Bank, or at all post offices and postal service counters nationwide.
