“UBS” develops AI to analyze database of 3 companies in just 30 seconds, helping to propose M&A deals to customers

On September 12, 2567, Bloomberg News reported that UBS Group AG had developed an artificial intelligence tool to help it offer potential M&A deals to clients. This tool can analyze a database of over 300,000 companies in less than half a minute.

Brice Bolinger, head of M&A Switzerland at UBS, said at the 27th M&A conference in Zurich on Tuesday that the UBS Group has created its own M&A “pilot assistant” to generate purchase ideas and identify potential buyers in sale situations.

The tool also identifies potential campaign goals by comparing the tone of prepared presentations and Q&A scenarios.

UBS also said the bank also sees potential use cases for AI to support mergers and acquisitions, legal and data room work.

However, testing of AI-powered tools to support company assessments, performance benchmarking and financial analysis has not yielded satisfactory results, he added, adding that the adoption of AI tools is complicated by compliance risks from confidential data and liability implications.

Bolinger said UBS has been using the tool for a year to support clients in mergers and acquisitions. Earlier this year, Citigroup Inc. said artificial intelligence is more likely to replace jobs in banking than in any other sector, with more than half of jobs having a high potential for automation.
