AI Emphasizing the effectiveness of communication, the information of listed companies must be disclosed comprehensively and quickly accessible.

On the occasion that the Stock Exchange of Thailand is about to enter its 6th decade bank finance We had a special interview with stakeholder of the Thai capital market along with executives of 2 other listed companies that reflected the importance of the Stock Exchange of Thailand to the Thai economic system and moving towards a new era of the Thai stock market in the 6th decade with the goal of creating a capital market for everyone by enforcing better laws, adding new products and increasing the number of investors, including the application of financial and investment technology and innovation to create balance and equality for all sectors.

Professor Emeritus Kittipong Urapipatanapong, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Stock Exchange of Thailand He said that the operations of the Stock Exchange of Thailand over the past 50 years have emphasized good corporate governance as an agency that initiates the creation of directors to perform their duties to the best of their ability, as well as sustainability (ESG) that emphasizes 3 aspects: environment, society, and good governance.

However, in the past 2-3 years, the Thai capital market has experienced events that have affected investor confidence. Therefore, from now on, we must amend and improve the regulations, expand cooperation, find new products, and push the Thai capital market to truly meet the needs of investors. Therefore, the main mission of the Stock Exchange of Thailand is to develop the capital market for everyone by creating transparency for all sectors, enforcing laws and regulations to build confidence among Thai investors and investors around the world, expecting better law enforcement and supporting New Economy businesses to raise funds in the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

An example of creating long-term sustainability for the capital market and its stakeholders is the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) which has collaborated with educational agencies, including the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, to disseminate and provide knowledge on finance and investment to students. In addition, organizations in the money and capital markets have also played a part in helping to build knowledge in this area together with the SET.

Professor Emeritus Kittipong said that the image of the Stock Exchange of Thailand in the 6th decade will have 3 aspects as follows:

1. Better law enforcement The clear problem of the Thai capital market in the past is the issue of confidence, both in terms of problem-solving and law enforcement. However, the Stock Exchange of Thailand has discussed with relevant agencies to improve the rules in many areas. Therefore, in the future, the work process in all aspects will be faster, which will be beneficial to preventing wrongdoing in the capital market and allowing offenders to be punished more quickly. In addition, the disclosure of information must be clear, and the Stock Exchange of Thailand will increasingly use technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) to assist in its work.

At the same time, the Stock Exchange of Thailand has a plan to expand cooperation to have a wider scope of work, especially with the SEC. In addition, providing knowledge on finance and investment to personnel involved in the capital market is important to make work flow smoothly and to make the enforcement of laws or regulations stronger and more stable.

2. Add new products Support New Economy businesses in increasing the value of listed companies (LCs), such as improving governance. The Stock Exchange of Thailand has studied methods and laws of Japan and South Korea to adapt them to suit the Thai capital market in order to increase the value of existing products (listed companies) in the market.

For introducing new products into the Thai capital market, whether it is environmental, such as carbon credit trading centers and carbon credit certification or digital assets, including issuing tokens, etc., the Stock Exchange of Thailand has a role as a middleman in developing various platforms to support these products in the future to be at an international standard level.

In addition, the Stock Exchange of Thailand has a plan to promote medium and small businesses to raise funds in the Stock Exchange of Thailand. It is currently studying the concept of establishing a fund or holding company, with listed companies as the main shareholders and opening opportunities for retail investors to join in investing, so that the fund or holding company can invest in businesses with a future and interesting prospects.

In particular, the target businesses in the New Economy group consist of 10 industrial groups, including advanced agriculture and food businesses, biofuels and biochemical businesses, medical and health extension, creative tourism, modern automobiles, aviation and logistics, digital and e-commerce, smart electronics, robots, and technology and innovation development, before being listed on the Stock Exchange.

In addition, the Stock Exchange of Thailand has a plan to adjust the criteria for listing on the LiVEx market to resolve various obstacles, such as tax restrictions, and to make it easier for companies in the LiVEx market to list on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai).

3. Increase investors It is believed that as long as the products in the stock market are good, they will attract investors to those products to invest and create appropriate returns. It also helps reduce the number of investors who want to enter to take advantage of the gaps in the capital market. On the other hand, companies that are registered in the stock market themselves can continue their business conveniently, in accordance with the rules, and have access to sources of capital, which are important factors in moving forward with their business.

The chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand concluded that if he wanted to have more medium and small-sized companies register to create new business groups in the Thai stock market, the Stock Exchange of Thailand could not operate alone. It had to cooperate with various agencies, such as the SEC, financial institutions, and government policies. Cooperation from each sector was considered important in creating the brilliance of the Thai capital market in its sixth decade.
