Announcing the success of the project “80 cc. 80 years of Bangkok Bank”
Bangkok Bank would like to thank the great “givers” and partner organizations nationwide for joining forces to deliver 14,031,600 cc of blood through the project to the National Blood Center, Thai Red Cross Society, which can help 105,237 patients. It is delighted that it has attracted 76% of new donors, while existing donors continue to donate regularly. It confirms that it will continue to open mobile blood donation points in the hope of raising awareness of sustainable blood reserves, reinforcing its status as a “friend, partner, and home mate” alongside Thai society into its 81st year.
Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President and CEO of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, stated that the bank has launched the “ 800,000 CC 80 Years of Bangkok Bank” project to provide tangible assistance to people in society. This project is also part of the celebrations marking Bangkok Bank's 80th anniversary on December 1, 2024. Through this project, the bank collaborated with the National Blood Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society to encourage Thais to donate blood through various channels, including the National Blood Centre, 12 regional blood service centers nationwide, mobile blood donation units, provincial hospitals that are blood service branches, and Bangkok Bank's mobile donation points at its Silom and Rama III headquarters throughout the year, as well as other mobile donation locations. Thanks to the excellent cooperation from leading agencies and partner organizations nationwide, a total of 765 entities participated in this great act of giving. As a result, by the end of the project on November 30, 2024, a total of 14,031,600 cc of blood was collected from 35,079 donors. This blood will be able to save the lives of 105,237 people.
To express gratitude to the "givers," including the executives and employees of Bangkok Bank, who have consistently participated in blood donation under the "800,000 cc 80 Years of Bangkok Bank" project , the bank has presented thank-you plaques to various departments nationwide to honor their sacrifice. Additionally, a special "800,000 cc 80 Years of Bangkok Bank" eco-friendly tote bag has been produced as a token of appreciation for those who have donated blood in this project four or more times.
Associate Professor Dr. Dujchai Chaiwanichsiri, Director of the National Blood Centre, Thai Red Cross Society, stated that she would like to thank Bangkok Bank for its long-standing commitment to supplying the National Blood Centre for over 29 years, especially for its " 80 cc 80th Anniversary of Bangkok Bank" project . This project significantly promoted and encouraged blood donation, thanks to the support of Bangkok Bank and its leading partner organizations nationwide, which provided space for mobile blood donation points. This resulted in a substantial increase in new donors, aligning with the Thai Red Cross Society's goal of increasing the number of new donors and encouraging regular donations to maintain a blood reserve of at least 2 units (350-450 cc per unit) per month to adequately meet the blood needs of hospitals across the country.
The “ 800,000 CC 80th Anniversary Bangkok Bank” project , launched in April 2023, aims to raise 8 million cubic centimeters of blood for the Thai Red Cross Society. This initiative fosters social participation and provides tangible assistance to fellow human beings on the occasion of Bangkok Bank's 80th anniversary. It builds upon the mobile blood donation centers established at the Silom Head Office and Rama III Building, a program continuously running since 1996. Over the past 29 years (1996-2024), the bank has donated a total of 32,542,550 cubic centimeters of blood, saving the lives of more than 261,181 patients.
