“Thaksin” took the stage to give a special lecture warning the Thai trade sector to prepare for the return of “Trump”, revealing that Prime Minister Yingluck ordered the Ministry of Finance to set up a sandbox to try accepting “Bitcoin” payments in Phuket and to study issuing stablecoins instead of printing banknotes. As for the 15% VAT, he admitted that he spoke too quickly and shocked people.

December 13, 67 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province Pheu Thai Party Organized a seminar under the project to enhance the potential of MPs and political personnel, with Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister in her capacity as party leader, along with Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, and Mr. Settha Thavisin, former Prime Minister, as well as Pheu Thai Party core members, including Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, MPs, and party members, attending the seminar.

โดย Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister As a special lecturer, he gave a special lecture on the topic of the world situation and adaptation. One stated that the most worrying thing right now is the return of Mr. Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States. Some people said that the United States will deal with Thailand because Thailand has a trade surplus with the United States, which Thailand must be careful about tax increases, including the case that Mr. Donald will use Bitcoin to pay off American debt.

“What I am saying is not to buy it, but the trend is like that. There are already many cryptocurrencies. Some people say that in the future, we will have more currencies than countries. Today, Thai people must think and understand this. The Prime Minister may assign the Ministry of Finance to study whether to accept Bitcoin or not. Can we use sandboxes in tourist areas such as Phuket or Hua Hin? Use Bitcoin to let people who hold Bitcoin use it to spend money.”

Mr. Thaksin also said that another interesting issue is stablecoins, which the Prime Minister may have the Ministry of Finance study whether it is possible to inject money into the economic system without printing any banknotes by issuing coins backed by government bonds to keep money circulating in the economy.

“The economy will definitely grow if we do this. I believe that next year’s GDP will be 3.5 percent, which shouldn’t be a problem. And in 2569, if GDP is 4.0 percent, there shouldn’t be a problem. But I’m still not satisfied because if GDP is less than 5 percent, our country will be inferior to other countries in ASEAN.”

Mr. Thaksin also said that currently, all the money in the Thai economy has been sucked out because commercial banks do not want to take risks and do not lend. Therefore, money must be found in the economic system without causing a burden to the country. Today, Thailand's public debt is very high. Therefore, the GDP must grow and the deficit must be reduced or taxes must be collected sufficiently.

“Both are difficult, but not impossible. To reduce public debt, Pheu Thai Party must do it. Next year will be a year of opportunity for Thai people.”

Mr. Thaksin also said that the budget for 2568 is a year that must be worked efficiently. The public debt must be reduced and state enterprises with a lot of debt must be removed from state enterprises and the private sector must be brought in to invest instead of the state. For example, investment in flood prevention in Bangkok must be found. But what should be done if the state has no money? The investment budget is low. The private sector must be brought in to invest. The private sector must think whether it will be beneficial or not. We have to look at this.

“Today we are talking about monopoly, electricity. We have government agencies, but everyone must have their own welfare, which makes our electricity bill expensive. We shouldn’t see the number 4 baht, we shouldn’t see the number 3 baht at the end. It must be in the middle 3 baht because the people can’t survive.”

Mr. Thaksin also mentioned the 15% VAT tax, saying: We speak too quickly or incompletely, which confuses people. For example, the Minister of Finance spoke about raising the VAT tax to 15%, which shocked the whole country. However, when speaking, we must speak to the whole system to show that Thailand is now part of the world. For example, today, people who invest in Thailand, the BOI gives them special privileges of 0% tax and does not collect their taxes, but they have to pay 15% tax in their country. The international rules state that a minimum tax of 15% must be collected.

“A few days ago, a company that received the BOI came to me and said that if I collect 15% from you, you don’t have to pay at home. Is that okay? He said that whether you pay in Thailand or there, it’s the same. What do you get when you pay in Thailand? I said that of course. There will be a way to reduce taxes so that you can use the 15% to spend in Thailand, whether it’s expanding the factory or upgrading the machinery to become a Green Factory. They are happy with everything.”
