The Treasury Department aims to test the use of cryptocurrency to purchase goods in Phuket Province in 68.

The Treasury Department aims to start testing the use of cryptocurrency to purchase goods in the sandbox area of Phuket Province within 68. It is currently in discussions with the Bank of Thailand and studying the details of the law. The Entertainment Complex Act is under consideration by the Council of State and is expected to be completed within 68.
On January 22, 2568, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Minister of Finance , revealed that the Ministry of Finance is considering studying the use of digital currency (cryptocurrency) for buying and selling goods in Phuket, a designated sandbox area. Currently, the details of the relevant laws are still being studied.
Currently, the private sector can already operate the exchange of digital currency into money, but there are still mechanisms to support it and laws to regulate it. However, the Ministry of Finance has discussed this matter with the Bank of Thailand (BOT), and the BOT still expresses its concerns. The Ministry of Finance must take action to make it legally sound.
“The Ministry of Finance’s challenge is to see the use of digital currency in the exchange of goods in Phuket Province by 2568.”
For the progress of the Entertainment Complex Act, it is currently in the process of being considered by the Council of State. There will be discussions to adjust the shape of the law to be most beneficial while still being under the principles and reasons of developing tourist attractions that are man-made destinations and must include elements such as hotels, theme parks, water parks, shopping malls, sports stadiums, and casinos. However, it is expected that the legal process will be completed by 2568.
