The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is following up on Foodpanda’s service termination in Thailand and is coordinating to request details on measures to protect the personal data of users, merchants, and riders after it announced that it would cease operations on May 23, 2568, to prevent data leaks.

Pol. Col. Surapong Plengkhum, Secretary-General of the Personal Data Protection Commission, stated, “The Commission prioritizes the rights of data subjects, especially when business changes affect data collection and processing, such as business closures, mergers, or transfers to other countries.”

“We have asked the company to clarify its approach under Sections 37 and 40 of the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 regarding the retention, deletion or destruction of personal data that is no longer required to be retained, including measures to prevent data leakage.”

The NESDB will closely monitor the results of the operation and if it is found that the company is not acting in accordance with the law, legal measures will be taken to fully protect the rights of the people.
