3 reasons why the Cabinet appointed Wittaya Rattanakorn as the new BOT governor

3 reasons why the Cabinet appointed "Witthai Ratanakorn" as the new BOT governor, pointing out that he is a person with knowledge, ability, experience in economics, finance and banking, and has the qualifications as specified by law.
On July 22, 2568, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed after the Cabinet meeting on July 22, 2568, that the Cabinet had approved the proposal submitted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Pichai Choonhavachir, to appoint Mr. Witai Ratanagorn as Governor of the Bank of Thailand, replacing the vacant position resulting from the expiration of Mr. Sethaput Suthiwarthanaputi's term as Governor on September 30, 2568. The appointment will be effective from October 1, 2568 onwards.
The Cabinet Secretariat revealed that the Minister of Finance nominated Mr. Witai based on three main reasons: he possesses knowledge and expertise in economics, finance, and banking, and he meets the qualifications stipulated by law. Furthermore, the Cabinet had resolved that the Prime Minister would be the one to consider and approve the nomination.
Therefore, it is deemed appropriate to agree with the proposal of the Minister of Finance by submitting it to the Cabinet for acknowledgement. If there are no objections or other opinions, it shall be considered a Cabinet resolution as proposed.
The Cabinet Secretariat will request the Privy Council Office to submit the matter for royal approval for appointment, and the meeting will approve it.
