Ekanat strongly discourages Thailand from being a transit point for illegal goods.

Ekanat, in an interview with Reuters, emphasized the need to crack down on illegal businesses, raise industry standards, and tighten border controls to prevent Thailand from becoming a tax haven and a hub for illegal goods. He pointed out that the problem of transshipment is impacting the country's economy and credibility.

Mr. Ekanat revealed the proactive operation called "Close the door and beat the devil." "The End of the Alley Team" The agency has conducted nationwide inspections to regulate substandard factories and businesses. It has ordered the closure of over 38 illegal factories, inspected over 46,000 nominee companies, and seized substandard TIS products valued at over 7.2 million baht. It has also intercepted the smuggling of electronic waste and ordered its return to the country of origin.

In addition to suppression measures, The Ministry also aims to raise industry standards across the entire system, from factory supervision to environmentally friendly manufacturing processes to enforcing the "Polluter Pays" measure, holding businesses accountable for their impacts, as well as protecting consumers from substandard products.

Another important point that the Minister emphasized is: Addressing the issue of transshipment, a channel used to avoid trade taxes. This could result in Thai exports being taxed as high as 36% in some markets. The Ministry is therefore intensifying law enforcement, inspecting suspicious containers, seizing falsely declared goods, and cooperating with international agencies to prevent Thailand from becoming a hub for dangerous or illegal goods.
