Asian stock markets were lower on Wednesday, August 20, 2568, tracking Wall Street's gains the previous night, as investors awaited Japanese trade data and a decision on China's lending rates.

Japan's exports fell 2.6% in July from a year earlier, the biggest decline in more than four years and more than the 4% decline economists polled by Reuters had expected. In June, exports fell just 2.1%.
