Government Savings Bank and Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) have already provided 2.7 billion baht in loans to solve informal debt.

The Ministry of Finance revealed that the Government Savings Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) have already provided loans worth over 7.2 billion baht to 9.2 informal debtors. They are encouraging informal creditors to become pico-finance operators to legally lend. As of September 68, 1.6 licensees have been granted, with a total of 5.3 billion baht in loans approved.

31 Oct 2568 Mr. Winij Wisetsupwan, Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office As a spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance Revealing the progress of the Ministry of Finance's financial assistance efforts to address informal debt, in collaboration with specialized financial institutions, namely the Government Savings Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, through various loan measures, including the People's Bank loan project, loans to repay informal debt, revolving fund loans to assist poor farmers, loan measures to assist and support informal debtors who have registered to resolve informal debt, loans to create jobs and careers, and loans to build credit and create opportunities.

As of December 1, 2566, and October 30, 2568, 92,548 individuals with informal debts have been approved for financial assistance through the aforementioned loan measures, with a total approval amount of 2,793.15 million baht. This represents an increase of 2,159 cases compared to September 25, 2568, with an increase of 63.70 million baht in approvals.

The Finance Ministry spokesman added that the Finance Ministry has a policy to promote the operation of provincial-level retail lending businesses under supervision (picofinance loans) to increase access to sources of funds in the system for retail people at fair interest rates, without being taken advantage of by informal creditors who charge interest rates higher than the law prescribes. It is also a channel for informal creditors to legally provide credit services in the system.

As of September 2568, 1,160 juristic persons (limited companies or limited partnerships) have been licensed to operate pico finance businesses and are operating in 75 provinces. As of the end of August 2568, a total of 5,371,285 pico finance accounts had been approved for retail customers, totaling 53,511.20 million baht. Of this, 394,768 accounts had outstanding loans totaling 7,633.05 million baht.
