The House Speaker confirmed that the House is ready to convene a special session to consider the draft constitutional amendment in a second reading if the government sends an official signal. He also requested that the committee expedite its conclusion before the regular session on December 12th, moving forward with the voting process and holding a referendum as planned by the government.
November 7, 2568 – Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, Speaker of the House of Representatives He revealed that the government has not yet received any official signal regarding the opening of a special session. The committee is merely discussing whether to request a special session before the regular session on December 12, 2025, to consider the draft constitutional amendment in its second reading. This is because constitutional amendments differ from other laws. Following the completion of the second reading, pursuant to Article 15, a 15-day delay is required before a vote on the third reading. Therefore, the committee would like to see the second reading of the draft constitutional amendment before December 12, 2025.
"The House is ready to enact regulations, but it depends on when the committee concludes its meeting. They will likely ask the House to forward the matter to the government for a special session." Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor said.
I want the constitutional amendment to proceed smoothly, and therefore I urge all committee members to attend the meeting and provide their opinions and compromises on various points of view. This will ensure a successful second reading and a successful third reading, which will then proceed to a referendum, as prepared by the government and the Election Commission (EC). The committee for the amendment is nearing completion and should be completed by the end of November or early December, before the regular session.
