South Korea's Ministry of Finance revealed that the country will announce plans to promote the won's international recognition in the first half of this year.

The plan was discussed at a meeting of the South Korean government's task force, which included high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Bank of Korea (BOK), and other relevant agencies.

Several officials attended this meeting. specify that The won has not yet gained sufficient acceptance in global financial markets considering its size as Asia's fourth-largest economy. Meanwhile, officials have stated that promoting the won internationally is a top priority policy to drive economic growth, as well as to further develop the foreign exchange and domestic financial markets.
