The Prime Minister held discussions with the IMF, confirming Thailand's readiness to host the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026 and its preparedness to handle economic volatility and global geopolitical crises.

To monitor the progress of preparations for hosting the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, which Thailand will host from October 12–18, 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

The Prime Minister welcomed and commended the close cooperation between Thailand and the IMF, both in policy advice and academic collaboration, and affirmed Thailand's readiness to host the 2569 IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting under the theme... “Thailand New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience”

The IMF's Managing Committee praised Thailand's readiness after visiting the venue, expressing confidence that Thailand would successfully host the event. They stated that this meeting would be a crucial opportunity to promote practical cooperation in addressing external fluctuations and rapid technological changes, as well as reflecting Thailand's progress since hosting the forum in 2534 and sharing its development experiences with the global community.

On this occasion, both sides also exchanged views on the conflict situation in the Middle East. The Prime Minister listened to the IMF's assessment of the potential impact on the global economy, as well as the approaches Thailand should prioritize in preparing for potential risks amidst the current uncertain global economic context.

In closing, the Prime Minister emphasized that hosting this meeting is a top national priority for the government, and that all sectors of the country will work together to ensure the meeting runs smoothly, efficiently, and to international standards. He also stated that once the government formation process is complete, they will be able to fully coordinate cooperation with the IMF, the private sector, and relevant agencies to promote various collaborations in addressing economic volatility and global geopolitical crises.
