The news anchor read a report stating that Khamenei was a janbaz, meaning someone wounded in battle against the enemy in what Iranian media has dubbed the "Ramadan war," a name commonly used to describe the conflict.
However, the report did not provide further details about his injuries. His father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's former Supreme Leader, and his wife were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran on February 28, at the beginning of the war.
Since the war began, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public, and he was announced as Iran's new Supreme Leader overnight.
