XPENG Thailand, the official importer and distributor of premium, high-tech smart electric vehicles (XPENG) in Thailand, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) to jointly develop education, research, and human resource development in electric vehicle technology to meet the future needs of the industry.

Apiwan Singhthavisak, CEO of Xpeng Thailand, said, “Currently, the global automotive industry is entering the era of electrified technology and intelligent driver assistance systems. Xpeng Thailand not only focuses on selling cars but also on creating a sustainable electric vehicle ecosystem.”

With human resource development at the heart of driving the industry, the collaboration with Dhurakij Pundit University aims to bridge knowledge from the business and academic sectors. This marks the beginning of building a skilled workforce to help propel Thailand towards becoming a regional hub for electric vehicles in the future.”

Assistant Professor Dr. Patthanan Petcherchu, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research at Dhurakij Pundit University, said, “I am very pleased to collaborate with Xpeng Thailand, an expert in intelligent electric vehicle technology, to jointly develop personnel to meet market demands.”

Collaboration between academia and industry will foster a modern learning ecosystem, encompassing curriculum development, teaching, training, and enhancing student professional experience through internships and co-operative education, as well as providing graduate employment opportunities. Furthermore, it will promote research and development in electric vehicles, ultimately elevating the potential of Thailand's electric vehicle industry for strong future growth.

Furthermore, both parties are jointly conducting research and development projects in the fields of electric vehicle technology, intelligent driving assistance systems, batteries, software, charging systems, and related technologies. This is achieved through the provision of data, technology, and expertise to generate new knowledge, promote the publication of research findings, and facilitate the application of this knowledge in both industrial and commercial contexts.

In addition, we have collaborated with the Master Automotive Training Institute under MGC-ASIA to develop curricula and teaching methods in electric vehicles that align with industry trends. This is achieved by connecting business knowledge to the classroom, inviting industry experts to share their experiences, and providing support with cutting-edge equipment and technology to enhance learning and develop the potential of students and personnel, preparing them to support the growth of the electric vehicle industry both domestically and internationally.
