On March 16, 2026, at 2:25 PM, following the ceremony for receiving the Royal Decree appointing the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives at the Parliament building, Mr. Sophon Saram, Speaker of the House of Representatives, stated that preparations are underway for the House meeting to vote on the Prime Minister on March 19, 2026.

They stated that they wanted to see the government under full authority before Songkran, as various crises are currently plaguing the country. Therefore, a government with full authority would be able to work more effectively. Thus, the election of the Prime Minister will take place as soon as possible, on March 19th, if there are no unforeseen obstacles.
