The Thai Chamber of Commerce thanked the government for accepting the private sector's proposals to reduce congestion at gas stations, and for ordering the government to publish daily warehouse prices for increased transparency, as well as promoting the use of B20 biodiesel amidst pressure from the Middle East energy crisis.

On March 18, 2569, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Thai Chambers of Commerce thanked the government for closely listening to feedback and suggestions from the private sector through the continuous meetings of the Center for Monitoring and Managing the Conflict in the Middle East (CMC). The private sector proposed solutions to the problem of fuel distribution at depots, as well as measures to mitigate the impact on costs for transportation (land and sea), industry, and construction. The government responded concretely, particularly with the announcement of daily fuel prices at depots and the promotion of B20 biodiesel, which will promptly alleviate the burden on businesses.

Mr. Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Thai Chambers of Commerce, revealed that the Thai Chamber of Commerce had proactively presented information and proposals to the meeting to reflect the real situation that businesses are facing. Two key issues were responded to by the government as follows:

  1. The Thai Chamber of Commerce proposes accelerating the distribution of fuel to depots to support production and transportation sectors. This is to alleviate congestion at gas stations due to truck traffic, which often leads to insufficient fuel supplies in some areas. Such measures will ensure the continued operation of production and transportation, reducing the risk of fuel shortages in certain regions.
  2. Regarding measures to support the transportation sector and ensure transparency in depot prices, particularly for routes heading south where fuel is purchased at depots at prices higher than retail, the government has responded positively. The Prime Minister ordered the daily announcement of depot fuel prices starting March 17th to promote transparency and fairness.

In addition, the meeting also agreed to promote the use of B20 fuel as an alternative, which will significantly reduce price differences and alleviate costs for businesses.

The Thai Chamber of Commerce also submitted a document summarizing a survey on energy usage and its impact on members and networks nationwide to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, to be used as data to inform energy policy decisions that align with the actual business situation during the Middle East crisis.

However, regarding the latest energy price situation, following the end of the price freeze on March 17, 2569, the price structure has been adjusted to reflect market mechanisms and create incentives for the use of alternative energy. E20 fuel has been reduced by 79 satang per liter, resulting in a price difference of 5 baht per liter compared to gasohol, which will help reduce the financial burden on individuals and businesses.
