Trump declared victory, calling today an "important day for world peace," expressing confidence in Iran's backdown after the ceasefire deal, amidst the ongoing risks of war and energy issues.
On April 8, 2026, at 11:22 AM, The Guardian reported that US President Donald Trump stated that Tuesday was an important day for world peace, believing that Iran had backed down. He also revealed that the US would help manage the shipping traffic congestion in the Strait of Hormuz and foresaw significant financial benefits from Iran's subsequent reconstruction efforts.
In a post via Truth Social, Trump also stated that the U.S. would remain in the area to ensure things proceed smoothly and expressed confidence that everything would turn out well, adding, "This could be a golden age for the Middle East."
However, the two-week ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran remains conditional, and the US has not yet officially responded to the invitation to participate in talks in Islamabad this Friday.
Meanwhile, some of Iran's 10-point proposal has been rejected by the United States in the past, making the direction of the negotiations highly uncertain.
