Author's view
Data from February 18, 2569 to March 18, 2569: In late February, following the US Supreme Court's ruling that Donald Trump's trade tariffs were illegal, financial markets reacted positively. However, the overall picture reversed in March due to escalating conflicts in the Middle East, causing significant volatility and sharp increases in crude oil prices, which once again became a major factor pressuring investment sentiment.
In terms of exchange rates, the US dollar became a safe-haven asset in the market, causing the USD Index, which had been trading around 98 points at the end of February, to surge past 100 points before retracing to close at 98.9 points. Meanwhile, the Thai baht, which had previously strengthened to below 31 THB/USD, weakened to around 32 THB/USD.
Regarding asset price movements, gold has experienced significant volatility. However, Thai and South Korean stocks, despite some corrections due to war factors, have maintained their overall upward trend. The energy sector also remains at high prices.
However, the groups starting to see signs of a downturn are European and Vietnamese stocks, which have begun to decline due to concerns about energy prices. The situation for US stocks is more worrying, as they have fallen for the second consecutive month from their all-time highs. Similarly, technology stocks, Indian stocks, and Chinese stocks continue to show no signs of recovery and show a tendency to decline further than before.
