Dr. Ekniti held bilateral discussions with the President of the World Bank in Washington, D.C., to promote the Low Carbon City project and the use of AI to improve quality of life. He also showcased Bangkok's readiness to host the IMF-World Bank 2026 conference.

18 April 2569 Dr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance To hold bilateral discussions with Mr. Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank. During the Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., on April 17, 2568, both sides exchanged views on issues of significant importance to the future direction of cooperation between Thailand and the World Bank.

Both sides discussed the framework for cooperation between Thailand and the World Bank, with one of the key projects being the Low Carbon City Project, which will play a crucial role in the transition to clean energy and a green economy. They also discussed digital financial inclusion. The World Bank commended Thailand for its concrete efforts in leveraging digital finance and AI to enhance skills, quality of life, and productivity for its citizens.

In addition, both sides discussed Bangkok's preparations for hosting the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026, to be held from October 12–18, 2568, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This will be a significant opportunity to present Thailand's and Southeast Asian development models to the world.
