Amazon is investing $25,000 billion in Anthropic to make AWS the core platform for grooming Claude.

Amazon is aggressively expanding its operations, announcing an additional investment of up to $25,000 billion in Anthropic to fully support its AI infrastructure amid surging demand that has strained the system.
On April 21, 2026, at 5:03 AM, CNBC reported that Amazon had reached an agreement to expand its partnership with Anthropic , preparing to invest an additional $25 billion, on top of the more than $8 billion it has already invested, in order to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
Anthropic revealed that it plans to spend more than $100,000 billion over the next 10 years on Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology, including the current and next-generation Trainium custom AI chips. The company has reserved up to 5 gigawatts of computing power for training and running its Claude-class AI models.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that Anthropic's long-term use of Trainium chips on AWS signals progress in collaborative technological development and reinforces Amazon's ability to support the generative AI era.
This new agreement includes an initial investment of $5,000 billion, which could rise to a maximum of $20,000 billion in the future if the defined business objectives are met. This investment round is based on Anthropic's current valuation of approximately $380,000 billion.
Anthropic also stated that by the end of this year, it will increase its processing power from Trainium2 and Trainium3 chips to nearly 1 gigawatt to support the rapidly growing number of users.
In recent years, the demand for Claude from enterprise, developer, and general user sectors has increased dramatically, leading to performance and stability limitations for company infrastructure.
Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, stated that the partnership with Amazon will allow the company to scale its AI capabilities to keep pace with growing demand, while driving research and services for over 100,000 customers on AWS.
The deal comes just two months after Amazon announced plans to invest up to $50 billion in OpenAI, a direct competitor to Anthropic, reflecting the fierce competition among leading AI companies as they race to build a competitive advantage before going public (IPO).
OpenAI has previously criticized Anthropic for a strategic mistake stemming from insufficient investment in infrastructure.
Anthropic, founded in 2564 by former OpenAI team members and known for its Claude family of AI models, has already surpassed $30,000 billion in annual revenue.
Although Anthropic has chosen AWS as its primary cloud provider, it also collaborates with other technology companies such as Microsoft and Google, as well as chip partners like Broadcom, to diversify its risks and enhance its competitiveness.
