The Bank of Thailand is pushing for Green Solutions to support the hotel sector in transitioning to Net Zero.

The Bank of Thailand launched Green Solutions for Hotels to support Thai hotels in their transition to green business practices with comprehensive solutions, building upon the success of its adaptation loans totaling over 1.6 billion baht.

The Bank of Thailand (BOT), in collaboration with the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCNE), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and nine commercial banks, launched the "Financing the Transition: Green Solutions for Hotels" project to support sustainable hotel businesses. 

On Tuesday, April 21, 2569, at the Pearl Hotel Phuket, Phuket Province. This project is a collaboration between government agencies, financial institutions, and the private sector to support Thai hotel businesses in achieving tangible environmental sustainability and to elevate Thailand's tourism ecosystem to international standards.

This project builds upon the success of the Financing the Transition program in 2567. This is a collaboration between the Bank of Thailand and commercial banks to develop financial products to support the adaptation of the business sector, especially SMEs. As of the end of 2568, the project has disbursed over 163,000 billion baht in loans to more than 700 businesses in key economic sectors such as manufacturing, agro-food industry, and tourism and hospitality.

The Financing the Transition: Green Solutions for Hotels project is an expansion of our efforts to the hotel sector.Which is facing sustainability pressures from both consumer behavior and international regulations, as reflected in this project.Focusing on providing comprehensive support (total solutions). This encompasses both financial and other aspects, ranging from raising awareness and measuring greenhouse gas emissions to selecting appropriate technologies and obtaining environmental certifications. Because business adaptation requires support beyond just access to funding.

This project has received cooperation from several key organizations, including: 1) The Thai Energy Management Companies Association. That supports knowledge in technology and business adaptation for the hotel industry. 2) Tourism Authority of Thailand This supports the use of the CF-Hotels tool to calculate carbon footprints, for use in planning greenhouse gas emission reductions, as well as for loan applications and international sustainability certifications. 3) The nine commercial banks They developed loan products with favorable terms to help hotel businesses adapt. 4) Department of Climate Change and Environment That drives the development of Thailand's Green Hotel Plus standard, which aligns with international standards. 5) The International Finance Corporation (IFC) It serves as the certifying body for the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) standard for international green buildings.
