BGRIM partners with Digital Edge to close a 2.8 billion baht "green loan" deal, developing AI data centers in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

BGRIM, in partnership with Digital Edge Singapore, signed a 2.8 billion baht green loan agreement to build a 100-megawatt data center to support AI and cloud computing. The first phase is expected to open in late 2569.

May 7, 2569 – Mr. Nopadej Karnasuta, Chief Executive Officer, Thailand, Malaysia and Industrial Business Solutions, B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (BGRIM). It has been revealed that BGRIM and Digital Edge (Singapore) Holdings Pte. Ltd. have signed a Green Loan agreement worth US$880 million, or approximately 2.8 billion baht. This marks the largest loan for a data center project in Thailand to date, and will be used to develop and construct the 100-megawatt BKK Campus data center project under a joint venture in Chonburi province.

This transaction marks another significant milestone under the over US$1 billion joint investment plan between B.Grimm Power and Digital Edge. It also marks Digital Edge's third consecutive national green loan in the Asia Pacific region, following successes in South Korea and Indonesia, reflecting the continued growth potential of digital infrastructure investment in the region.

The BKK Campus project is located in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a strategically important area of ​​Thailand. It boasts large-scale digital infrastructure supporting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprise-level cloud systems. This aligns with the country's digital policy, which aims to promote investment in high-value industries, both in technology and infrastructure, to drive long-term economic growth.

This collaboration combines B.Grimm Power's expertise in developing energy infrastructure in Thailand with Digital Edge's expertise in developing and managing large-scale data centers. With sustainability at its core, the project aims to elevate the standards of digital infrastructure in the EEC (Eastern Economic Corridor) to align with the growth trends of the digital economy.

Under Digital Edge's green financing framework, the loan will support the company's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2573, aligning with B.Grimm Power's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The project is designed for high energy efficiency, aiming for an average annual Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 for the data center, a standard set by leading global data centers. This is coupled with a commitment to achieving LEED Silver certification, the implementation of a hybrid closed-loop cooling system to reduce water consumption, and the preparation of infrastructure to support future renewable energy, thereby reducing overall carbon intensity.

This financing was supported by leading domestic and international financial institutions as co-managers of the loan, including Bangkok Bank, Krungsri Bank, HSBC Thailand, Kasikornbank, Mizuho Bank, Natixis CIB, Siam Commercial Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Standard Chartered Bank. Krungsri Bank, Mizuho Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank served as green loan coordinators, reflecting their confidence in investing in Thailand's sustainable digital infrastructure.

For the development plan, the BKK Campus project will be constructed in two phases. The first building (BKK1) is scheduled to open in Q4/2026, and the second building (BKK2) in Q2/2027. It is expected to play a significant role in supporting the rapidly growing demand for data and artificial intelligence (AI) systems in Southeast Asia.
