The Board of Investment (BOI) has approved a second phase of investment expansion in Thailand by three Chinese and Taiwanese PCB giants, totaling over 22 billion baht. This will support the AI server, data center, and smart device industries and create over 5,000 new jobs for Thai nationals.

May 18, 2569 Mr. Narit Theodsatheerasak Secretary General of the Board of Investment (BOI) It has been revealed that the subcommittee authorized by the BOI board has approved investment promotion applications from three leading global manufacturers of printed circuit boards (PCBs): Compec Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Multi-Fineline Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Gold Circuit Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. These three companies have invested in Thailand over the past 1-2 years, with a combined initial investment of over 35 billion baht and employing more than 7,000 Thai people.

This time, approval has been granted for an additional investment of over 22,000 billion baht in phase two, which will create more than 5,000 Thai jobs to support the rapid expansion of future technology industries such as AI servers used in data centers, high-speed communication systems, and smart electronic devices. This presents a significant opportunity for Thailand to upgrade to a regional hub for advanced electronics manufacturing and the semiconductor supply chain.

  • Compeq Technology Company A global PCB manufacturer from China is undertaking this project to produce flexible PCBs, which are bendable electronic circuit boards. These boards offer space-saving advantages, lightweight design, and high bending resistance, making them ideal for modern electronic devices such as laptops, smartphones, smartwatches, wireless headphones, and IoT devices. The company has invested 13,000 billion baht in the first phase and will invest an additional 9,170 billion baht in this project. The factory will be located in the Asia Industrial Estate (Suvarnabhumi) in Samut Prakan province.
  • Multi-Fineline Electronics Company It is a subsidiary of Dongshan Precision (DSBJ) from China and a leading manufacturer of both multilayer and flexible PCBs, supplying major customers in the AI and data center technology sectors such as Apple, META, Microsoft, and Tesla. The company has an initial investment of 14,000 billion baht and will invest an additional 5,800 billion baht in this phase. The factory is located in the Rojana Nongyai Industrial Estate in Chonburi province.
  • Gold Circuit Electronics Co., Ltd. This Taiwanese company is a world-class PCB manufacturer engaged in the design, research and development, and production of comprehensive PCBs, including multilayer and High Density Interconnect (HDI) types. HDI PCBs are crucial for modern electronics; they are specialized electronic circuit boards designed to accommodate a large number of electronic components in limited spaces, resulting in smaller, lighter devices with faster signal transmission and improved energy efficiency. The company has an initial investment of 8,000 billion baht and will invest an additional 7,230 billion baht in this phase. The factory is located in the 304 Industrial Estate in Prachinburi Province.

“These three global printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers decided to invest in establishing large-scale production bases in Thailand during 2024-2025. Less than two years later, they expanded their investments significantly in a second phase, demonstrating the market's growth and investor confidence in Thailand's potential. This includes the industrial ecosystem, ready infrastructure and human resources, government support measures, and the ease of investment through the Thailand FastPass mechanism, which accelerates approval and licensing processes. This expansion is crucial in positioning Thailand as a regional hub for advanced electronics and digital industries,” Mr. Narut said.

Over the past three years (2023-2025), 222 projects involving the production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and PCB materials have applied for investment promotion, with a total investment value of 320,078 million baht. The majority of this investment came from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan. As a result, Thailand has become the leading PCB producer in ASEAN and the fifth largest in the world.
