The Director-General of Customs has ordered the cancellation of rewards and bribes for the arrest of high-ranking executives, effective June 69.

The Director-General of the Customs Department is preparing to sign an announcement abolishing rewards and bonuses for information leading to arrests by high-ranking executives to prevent conflicts of interest. The announcement is expected to take effect in June 69.

29 May 2569 Mr. Panthong Loikulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department It has been revealed that the Customs Department is preparing regulations to abolish the payment of rewards and informant bonuses to high-ranking executives within the department. This will be discontinued for executives at the level of Director-General, Deputy Director-General, Advisors, and Bureau Directors, in order to prevent conflicts of interest.

“I have already reported this to Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. He will sign this regulation to reduce the reward money for informants, and it is expected to come into effect within June of this year, before the 152nd anniversary of the Customs Department on July 6, 2569.”

While the approach to suppressing smuggling of illegal goods has shifted to a risk management system and emphasizes investigations to obtain search warrants for warehouses instead of inspecting every container at the port, in order to reduce confrontation and increase efficiency, resulting in a continuous increase in the seizure of high-value illegal goods, especially counterfeit products, narcotics, e-cigarettes, and e-cigarette liquids.
