The Prime Minister met with Thai private sector representatives in Vietnam to promote cross-border investment, emphasizing the concept of mutual growth. He stressed that Thailand and Vietnam have the potential to be strategic partners in driving the ASEAN economy.

June 8, 2026, 11:00 AM, at the Junior Ballroom, Fairmont Hanoi Hotel, Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul began his first task upon arriving in Hanoi for his official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam by meeting with representatives of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ThaiCham), along with representatives of Thai private sector businesses and investors in Vietnam. To gather opinions, suggestions, and exchange perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Vietnam.

The private sector representatives participating in this discussion came from a diverse range of key industries, including agriculture and food, retail, finance, energy, industrial estates, construction materials and manufacturing, as well as consumer goods. These are all business groups that play a significant role in economic relations between Thailand and Vietnam and have the potential for further trade and investment expansion in the future. Over 30 private sector representatives participated in the discussion.

The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at meeting with representatives of the Thai private sector in Vietnam, noting that this visit to Vietnam was his first official visit as Prime Minister. He noted that it came just days after the official visit to Thailand by President To Lam of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, also his first visit since assuming office. This reflects the close relationship between Thailand and Vietnam and signals that both countries, key economies in the region, are ready to combine their potential to create shared growth in the future.

The Prime Minister emphasized the concept of "growing together," as the growth of both countries positively impacts each other. Vietnam plays a crucial role in global production supply chains, while Thailand has strengths in industry, services, logistics, and regional connectivity. Therefore, they have the potential to become "strategic partners" in driving the future economic of ASEAN. This is a key reason why the Thai government places great importance on its economic relationship with Vietnam.

During this visit to Vietnam, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, including the President, the Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the National Assembly. The discussions will cover issues raised by the private sector and will focus on promoting closer supply chain linkages, creating a favorable environment and regulations for trade and investment (Ease of Doing Business), and boosting private sector investment between the two countries to foster long-term mutual growth.

On this occasion, Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Senior Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Thai Chambers of Commerce, in his capacity as President of the Thai-Vietnam Friendship Association, praised the Prime Minister's vision in leading the largest delegation of cabinet ministers, senior economic and security officials ever to visit Vietnam. He also commended the Prime Minister's meeting with Thai private sector investors in Vietnam, stating that it represents a "Team Thailand Plus" model, where the government and private sector work together in a concrete and comprehensive manner to elevate the economic partnership between Thailand and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Thai private sector representatives thanked the Prime Minister for the opportunity to meet and discuss matters today. They exchanged views on doing business in Vietnam, as well as Vietnam's strengths and best practices in promoting trade and attracting foreign investment that Thailand can adapt and apply. They also noted that while challenges in trade and investment remain, there are still opportunities for Thailand to participate in and further expand cooperation with Vietnam.

The Prime Minister concluded the discussion by stating that listening to feedback from the private sector is crucial information that will help the government formulate targeted policies and support measures that are aligned with the changing business environment and enhance the competitiveness of Thai businesses abroad.

"The government will take all of your comments and suggestions into consideration and discuss them with relevant agencies. This will help the Thai government to effectively address the needs of Thai businesses in the future." The Prime Minister said

Following that, the Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between the Thai and Vietnamese private sectors.

  1. Memorandum of Understanding between Amata Group and FPT Corporation regarding cooperation in developing standards for Smart Industrial Estates.
  2. Memorandum of Understanding between CP Group and FPT Corporation regarding cooperation in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
