As per the Cabinet resolution on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, a special public holiday will be declared in Bangkok on Friday, October 16, 2026. Furthermore, government agencies in Bangkok are to implement a work-from-home policy for three days: Monday, October 12, 2026; Wednesday, October 14, 2026; and Thursday, October 15, 2026. This is to facilitate travel and ensure the safety of the Ministers of Finance and Governors of Central Banks of Member Countries attending the 2026 Annual Meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Governors.
The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has considered and deemed it appropriate to add an extra public holiday for financial institutions and specialized financial institutions in Bangkok, for one day: Friday, October 16, 2026. Financial institutions and specialized financial institutions may consider taking this action as appropriate, provided they have essential tasks or if canceling those tasks would cause damage or affect public services.
