Anthropic has made Claude Fable 5, an AI model on par with Mythos that was previously restricted to certain organizations, available now, with added protection against malicious use.

June 9, 2569 at 14.44:XNUMX a.m., CNBC reported that Anthropic has unveiled a new AI model, “Claude Fable 5,” which boasts capabilities on par with Mythos, the flagship model the company restricted to exclusive use two months ago. This is due to concerns that the technology could be misused or used in harmful ways if it falls into the wrong hands.

The company stated that Claude Fable 5 will be available to enterprise and paying users, and this widespread rollout is the result of the development of new safeguards capable of blocking high-risk requests, such as those related to cybersecurity and biotechnology.

Diane Penn, Head of Product Research at Anthropic. The company stated that its goal is to "race to the top," aiming to deliver technology that benefits users while implementing appropriate safety measures so that the benefits significantly outweigh the risks.

Anthropic previously garnered attention from investors and government agencies with the launch of Mythos, which boasts the capability to efficiently detect software security vulnerabilities. However, the company chose to restrict access to select organizations under the Project Glasswing cybersecurity program and confirmed that it would not be generally available initially.

The launch of Claude Fable 5 marks a step forward in Anthropic's long-term goal of bringing the Mythos model to a wider market, while also building on investor interest ahead of an expected initial public offering (IPO) sometime this year.

Anthropic reports that Claude Fable 5 performs outstandingly in software engineering and knowledge analysis tasks, scoring more than 10% higher on some tests than Claude Opus 4.8, a model released just a month ago.

Penn stated that Claude Fable 5 represents a significant leap in potential. Therefore, it is necessary to implement additional safeguards to prevent misuse. For example, if a user requests information about the production of the hazardous toxic substance ricin, the system will reject such a request and switch to Claude Opus 4.8 to present the information in a safer format instead.

Simultaneously, Anthropic also released Claude Mythos 5, an updated version of Mythos using the same underlying model as Claude Fable 5 but relaxing some security restrictions for authorized users.

This launch comes just days after Anthropic filed for a classified IPO with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), potentially leading to a historic offering following the company's rapid growth over the past year.

Anthropic revealed in May that its annual revenue run rate surged to $47,000 billion from approximately $10,000 billion the previous year, while its latest funding round increased its valuation to $965,000 billion, surpassing its main competitor, OpenAI, which is valued at $852,000 billion.

OpenAI is also preparing for its IPO, having just filed confidential IPO documents with regulators on Monday. Meanwhile, Elon Musk's SpaceX, which previously merged with the AI company xAI, is preparing for its IPO this week.

The fierce competition in the AI industry has led to... Dario Amodei, Chief Executive Officer of Anthropic. Facing pressure to prove its nearly $1 trillion valuation in the eyes of investors, Claude Fable 5 could become one of the company's key revenue streams in the future.

Anthropic has priced Claude Fable 5 at $10 per 1 million incoming tokens and $50 per 1 million outgoing tokens. This is more than twice as high as Claude Opus 4.8. However, the company believes customers are willing to pay a higher price for better accuracy and performance. Early customers have reported a decrease in cost per task, even though the cost per token has increased.

"Smarter models help users achieve a higher return on investment (ROI)." Penn said.
