"Fey Phatra" shares her adventurous, eco-friendly perspective, encouraging high school students to unlock their potential and create innovations to combat climate change in the "Green Mission by Chula x GULF Year 3" project.

Now in its third year, the “Green Mission by Chula x GULF” project, a collaboration between Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF) and the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, provides a platform for high school students to showcase their innovative ideas for addressing climate change under the concept of “Resilient LAB: Thinking for Our Home.”

The highlight of the project is that the shortlisted teams will broaden their horizons through field trips to power plants within the GULF group and the Thaicom satellite station, before embarking on an intensive 4-day, 3-night bootcamp. There, they will present their innovative ideas, which can be practically applied in their local communities, to compete for a total prize money of over 100,000 baht. But the project's uniqueness doesn't end there. The three winning teams will also receive funding to further develop their "ideas on paper" into "workable innovations" through a Sandbox Pilot Project, aiming to cultivate a new generation of Green Leaders who are ready to take action and become a driving force for a low-carbon society in the future.

In addition to the many interesting activities throughout the project, another highlight of the project's Kick-off press conference was the appearance of "Fey-Pattra Eaksangkul," an actor and YouTuber who enjoys outdoor activities and hiking. He shared his experiences with nature and the environmental problems he encountered along the way, aiming to inspire and empower Gen Z to take care of their own communities. This adventurous young man admitted that he was "very excited" because it was his first time speaking about environmental issues in such a serious way.

Through diverse travels since childhood, including experiencing nature and real community life, "Fei" has witnessed environmental changes and climate change, something she once considered distant, but which is now becoming increasingly relevant. This problem is intertwined with daily life in communities, such as wildfires and recurring floods. Furthermore, "Fei" enjoys surfing, which has exposed her to the problem of marine debris, especially during the monsoon season. The increased number of people hiking in the forest has also led to littering everywhere, no matter how deep into the woods. However, responsible tourism should minimize negative impacts on nature or contribute to environmental restoration. "Fei's" experiences reflect that environmental issues are becoming a major and increasingly personal matter.

What particularly impressed her about the project was the competition theme, "Resilient LAB: Thinking for Our Home," because it made the students realize that climate change is a problem close to home, present in their daily lives and communities. The definition of "home" may differ for each person. For some, home is just their dwelling place, but it can also encompass their country or the world. And each person's "home" faces different problems, and their knowledge and ability to solve them also vary. This challenge, therefore, allowed the students to have diverse perspectives, leading to creative ideas and stimulating solutions to the environmental problems around them.
