JAS board approves massive 2.3 billion baht deal with FIFA, pushing sports content as a key driver, transferring MONOMAX for live World Cup broadcasts.
JAS announced its board of directors approved a 2,305 million baht investment to acquire the exclusive broadcasting rights in Thailand for the 2026 and 2030 FIFA World Cups, as well as 16 other major FIFA tournaments, across all platforms for four years. The funding will come from a combination of 2,164 million baht in cash flow and loans. The goal is to make world-class sports content a new flagship revenue stream.
Date: 12 June 2569 Jasmine International Public Company Limited (JAS) The company has informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) that its Board of Directors, at a meeting on June 11, 2026, approved the acquisition of exclusive FIFA Multi-Tournament Broadcast Rights from the International Association of Football (FIFA) for the broadcasting of the World Cup and other major tournaments in Thailand (exclusivity right) for a period of four years (2026-2030), for a total value of US$70 million, or approximately 2,304.68 million baht.
The broadcasting rights cover the competition across all media types, including free-to-air television, pay TV, digital media, and OTT platforms, encompassing a total of 16 major FIFA tournaments, comprising:
- The FIFA World Cup 2026 (live broadcast of all 104 matches, to be held from June 11 to July 19, 2569, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and for the first time featuring 48 teams)
- FIFA World Cup 2030
- FIFA Women's World Cup 2027
Other FIFA competitions include the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the FIFA U-17 and U-20 Youth World Cups (both men and women), and the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2028.
In addition, JAS has also obtained sublicensing rights to manage the media business to other media operators.
The contract value is approximately 2,304.68 million baht (excluding VAT, sales tax, and withholding tax), with payment scheduled to be divided into 3 installments.
- US$3,000,000 must be paid within 10 days of the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
- US$17,000,000 must be paid within 30 days of the end of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
- US$50,000,000 must be paid before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2030.
Furthermore, JAS also revealed its revenue generation plan after acquiring the rights, which will focus on media and content businesses. Initially, the rights have been granted to the MONOMAX platform for live broadcasting, and the World Cup content will be included in the same package as the Premier League and FA Cup, in accordance with the agreement with MONO on an arm's-length basis previously approved by shareholders.
The company forecasts that its primary revenue will be recurring revenue from subscriptions to viewers on its platform, supplemented by revenue from advertising sales, sponsorships, and sublicensing.
In terms of funding sources, JAS will utilize its internal cash flow, which as of March 31, 2569, amounts to approximately 2,164.13 million baht in cash and cash equivalents, along with borrowings from financial institutions. Installment repayments will help reduce interest costs by borrowing only as needed.
When calculating the size of the asset transaction based on the total value of the consideration, this deal represents 16.99% of the company's total assets. When combined with other asset acquisitions in the preceding six months (14.91%), the total transaction size reaches a maximum of 31.90%.
The company's board of directors unanimously agrees that this investment is reasonable and aligns with the long-term strategy. World-class sports content will be a key driver in enhancing competitiveness, improving the group's image, and propelling the media and digital content business to become the new flagship that will generate sustainable revenue and added value for shareholders.
