The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is developing the BOI-IPO project to attract new economy businesses to the Thai capital market and enhance its attractiveness.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is collaborating with the Board of Investment (BOI) to promote companies in the New Economy industries to raise funds through IPOs in the Thai capital market. This includes revising registration criteria, streamlining IPO procedures, and considering additional incentives to attract foreign companies, particularly Chinese and Taiwanese investors, to use Thailand as both a production base and a source of funding. The measures are expected to be finalized by the third quarter of 2026.

29 June 2569 – Mr. Atsadej Kongsiri, Director and Manager of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) It was stated that the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is collaborating with the Board of Investment (BOI) to establish mechanisms to encourage companies in emerging industries (New Economy) to raise more capital in the Thai capital market. The focus is on encouraging companies that have received investment promotion from the BOI to choose Thailand as both an investment base and a source of funding through initial public offerings (IPOs).

This approach lays the foundation for increasing the attractiveness of the Thai capital market by increasing the number of companies in future industries that align with global economic trends, while supporting businesses investing in the country to grow alongside raising capital through the stock exchange.

The operations under the BOI-IPO project cover three main approaches. These include revising the listing criteria for the stock exchange to better align with the characteristics of the New Economy businesses. This involves reviewing the industry grouping system, which previously defined 10 categories, and reconsidering market capitalization and profitability criteria to make them more appropriate for different business types and facilitate easier listing.

Furthermore, they are collaborating with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to find ways to shorten and expedite the IPO process. At the same time, they are in discussions with the Board of Investment (BOI) regarding the possibility of providing additional incentives to companies that invest in and choose to list on the Thai Stock Exchange.

For the main target group. These include industries that have received investment promotion from the BOI and are strategic industries for the country, such as electric vehicle (EV) businesses, data centers, printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing, as well as high-tech businesses and industries aligned with the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

Another important goal is to attract subsidiaries of multinational corporations that have established production bases in Thailand, especially investors from China and Taiwan, to list on the Thai stock exchange. This would allow them to use the capital market as a source of funding for business expansion. In some high-potential industries, the stock exchange may consider relaxing certain regulations, such as allowing companies that are not yet profitable to list if they have the potential for growth and can use capital to accelerate expansion. Examples of successful foreign companies listing on the Thai capital market include Delta.

In terms of timeframe, the guidelines and measures are expected to be clarified by the third quarter of this year, or within the next 2-3 months. However, seeing these companies actually listed on the stock market may take at least two years, as many projects promoted by the BOI are still in the initial investment and factory construction phases before they are ready to enter the fundraising process on the stock exchange.

Many companies showed continued interest in inquiring about the procedures for listing on the Thai capital market, reflecting efforts to upgrade the Thai capital market to support future industries and provide more long-term investment options for investors.
