CP launches “Reforest Tokenization” model in partnership with Mae Fah Luang Foundation to enhance Thailand’s natural capital.

CP launches the “Reforest Tokenization” model, transforming the value of forests into digital assets, aiming to generate income for communities and drive Thailand's green economy. It starts with carbon credits and will expand to create value from ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural resources in the long term.
8 July 2569 – Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) launched Reforest Tokenization, a green economy model aimed at enhancing “natural capital”. Thailand's transition to a digital economy. By using digital technology as a mechanism to connect the value generated from forest restoration and maintenance into the economic system in a transparent and verifiable manner.
CP Group will collaborate with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, its first partner, on over 10,000 rai of land in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Tak provinces to develop a model for creating value from conservation that can generate income for communities and further develop Thailand's Natural Capital Economy.
Carbon credits will be just the beginning, before expanding to create value from natural capital in a broader dimension, including ecosystems, biodiversity, water resources, and the value generated by communities that care for the forests.

Supachai Chearavanont, Senior Vice President, Charoen Pokphand Group.
Mr. Supachai Chearavanont, Senior Vice President, Charoen Pokphand Group. It was stated, "Future forest conservation needs economic incentives that allow people living with forests to earn income from forest preservation, rather than destructive exploitation of resources. This is the origin of the Reforest Tokenization concept, which aims to elevate forest areas into digital assets or Natural Capital, linking conservation with economic mechanisms and opening opportunities for all sectors to participate concretely in managing natural resources."

“Forests are the most important ecosystem for humans. They absorb 31% of carbon from human activities, provide 75% of the world's freshwater, serve as the habitat for 80% of terrestrial life, and are dependent on forests for the livelihoods of 90% of the world's poorest populations. However, between 2533 and 2568, forest areas in the Mekong River Basin have continuously declined, with Cambodia losing 42% of its forest area, Laos 9.5%, Myanmar 3.9%, and Thailand 2.9%. Although Thailand has maintained its forest area better than many countries in the region, our goal is not just to preserve it, but to increase forest cover while also addressing the significant challenges of wildfires and PM2.5 air pollution.”

“From my experience working in Nan Province with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, I learned that the heart of forest conservation is not just about planting trees, but about enabling people to live in harmony with the forest, ensuring a good quality of life and sustainable livelihoods. If communities lack sufficient income, the pressure on the forest will persist. Today, the world uses carbon credits as a mechanism to reflect the value of carbon sequestration, but in reality, forests have much more value, including watershed conservation, biodiversity, wildfire prevention, and community care. Reforest Tokenization, therefore, transforms these values into economic value by converting carbon credits into tokens, creating incentives for everyone to participate in supporting conservation. The income will return to the communities that care for the forests, turning forests into valuable assets, creating stable livelihoods, and reducing monoculture farming and activities that destroy resources.”

“Currently, Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) has begun piloting this model in collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, aiming to develop a transparent and verifiable system. If approximately 200 households, who manage around 10,000 rai of forest land, can increase their income from conservation by 10,000-15,000 baht per household per month, coupled with the cultivation of high-value crops, it will help shift the incentive from deforestation to forest conservation. This will serve as a model that can be scaled up to other areas of Thailand and the region, making forest conservation an inclusive economy where everyone can participate and communities can benefit sustainably.”

Mom Luang Dispanadda Diskul, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage.
while Mom Luang Dispanadda Diskul, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage. He stated, "Conservation of natural resources must go hand-in-hand with improving the quality of life for people in communities, who act as the front line against various crises. If they cannot survive, nature cannot survive either. Therefore, we should calculate the costs of new businesses that take into account natural costs while simultaneously improving the quality of life of the community to ensure their future well-being."
“I hope that our gathering today will help us find new business principles that don't focus solely on profit, but consider community growth alongside environmental conservation. The Mae Fah Luang Foundation is ready to work with everyone to make these objectives a reality and to scale up widely. I also want to invite everyone to consider the cost of inaction, which is far higher than the collapse of natural resources, and how that crisis will inevitably have a ripple effect on the business sector.”

Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) has laid out a roadmap for the project between 2569 and 2573, aiming to develop a Reforest Tokenization mechanism that systematically connects data on forest restoration, carbon sequestration, and the outcomes of natural resource management with various sectors. In the first phase, by 2569, the group will sell carbon credits from forest areas developed by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation on the TrueMoney application, giving the public the opportunity to support forest conservation through an instant redeem system.
This initial phase will not involve holding coins or tokens in a digital wallet, but rather utilizes digital technology and blockchain to connect the entire process of purchasing, paying, and receiving carbon offset certificates into a single experience. This will make it easier, more transparent, and verifiable for people to access and support forest conservation.
In the next phase, Charoen Pokphand Group will fully develop a Reforest Tokenization mechanism under the laws and regulations of relevant agencies. This will create new channels for fundraising and expand the conservation ecosystem, using tokens as a key tool to link the value of natural resources—not just carbon credits, but also ecosystem restoration, biodiversity, and other ecosystem services. This will open opportunities for businesses, investors, and the public to jointly create "Natural Capital" for Thailand, enabling conservation to drive economic, social, and environmental growth simultaneously.
With key pilot areas in three provinces: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Tak, totaling over 10,000 rai, the project aims to generate an estimated 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent carbon credits. Furthermore, the group aims to jointly develop a revolving fund mechanism for forest restoration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation by 2030, totaling over 30 million baht. This will ensure that resources generated from conservation can continuously support communities and area restoration, as well as expand the project independently and in collaboration with other partners in the future.
The presentation of CP Group's vision was held at the event. “Tokenizing Reforestation: Restoring Forests with Token Innovation” The event was held at the Grand Hall, True Digital Park, under the theme "Building a Future Where Nature, Technology, and Community Grow Together," with representatives from the government, the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, international organizations, the business sector, the education sector, as well as executives and employees from affiliated businesses, totaling over 250 people.

The event also included a panel discussion on the topic... “Unlocking Forest Value through Collaboration” To exchange ideas on making forest restoration a scalable model through community participation and economic incentives, which are crucial elements in ensuring that conservation progresses while generating income for all sectors.
โดย Mr. Smith Harueanphit, Chairman of the Nature-Based Problem Solving Program, Mae Fah Luang Foundation. It was emphasized that, “Sustainable forest conservation must begin at the community level, by listening to their needs, building knowledge, and utilizing technology in conjunction with a transparent monitoring system. When communities generate income from carbon credits, it creates an incentive to care for the forests and reduce the problem of wildfires. The Mae Fah Luang Foundation therefore acts as a link between communities and the private sector to develop a transparent conservation model, free from greenwashing, and to generate income from the sustainable management of natural resources.”
while Mr. Chomkit Sirikul, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Executive Officer for Government Sustainability and Public Sector Relations, Charoen Pokphand Group. It stated, "For over 10 years, the CP Group has worked with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation and the Pidtong Lang Phra Foundation to improve the quality of life for communities living in harmony with forests. The focus is on creating sustainable livelihoods and income through promoting cash crops that can coexist with forests, such as coffee, along with developing traceability systems and expanding into carbon credits. This aims to strike a balance between forest conservation and the sustainable development of community quality of life."
part Mr. Worasit Sittivichai, Chief Operating Officer, Carbon Credit Business, Charoen Pokphand Produce Co., Ltd. The explanation stated, “CP Group's businesses are closely related to the agricultural sector, and many farmers, some of whom live in areas near forests, face challenges such as deforestation and burning that causes haze. CP Group therefore implements awareness campaigns, coupled with the development of traceability systems, and views carbon credits as a crucial mechanism to incentivize communities to conserve forests. Since forests are part of the supply chain, it is the responsibility of the business sector to support communities in earning sufficient income, reducing deforestation, decreasing monoculture farming, and managing water resources appropriately.”
สำหรับ Mr. Apinnant Dabpetch, Managing Director of Ascend Bit Co., Ltd. And the Director of Wallet Platform Growth at TrueMoney Co., Ltd. said that: “Ascend Bit and TrueMoney, under the Ascend Group, believe that sustainability is achievable when participation is easily accessible. Therefore, we are leveraging blockchain technology to enhance the carbon credit purchasing service on the TrueMoney application. This provides people with convenient, transparent, and verifiable ways to support environmental projects through internationally certified initiatives. Users can choose carbon offset packages according to their needs and receive a carbon offset certificate to confirm their participation and ensure traceability. This collaboration is a key mechanism in driving our vision of Reforest Tokenization, coupled with the application of digital technology to promote sustainable environmental conservation.”

The event also featured exhibitions from various agencies and partners, showcasing how forests can be leveraged to become natural capital. This ranged from developing carbon credit businesses and applying blockchain technology and digital assets to community development models that generate income while simultaneously caring for forests. This reflects how conservation can be concretely linked to the economy, quality of life, and the participation of all sectors.
Therefore, Reforest Tokenization is not just about applying digital technology to forest conservation, but about laying the foundation for a new mechanism to "transform forests into digital assets" and creating incentives that encourage it. "Forest conservation generates income for the community." By connecting the power of the community, development knowledge, digital technology, government, the private sector, and partner networks, we aim to ensure people's survival, forest sustainability, and the creation of value for the nation, its people, and organizations, in accordance with the Charoen Pokphand Group's three core values of benefit.
