Of these, 176 million trips were from mainland China, an increase of 10.7%, while the total number of trips from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan was 147 million, an increase of 8.1%.
Meanwhile, international travel totaled 45.91 million trips, an increase of 20.6% compared to the previous year, reflecting the continued recovery of international travel.
The data also indicates that China welcomed 22.91 million foreign tourists, an increase of 20.4%. Of these, 17.8 million entered China under the visa-free policy, a significant increase of 30.6%, and accounting for 77.7% of all foreign tourists entering the country.
The top 10 countries with the most tourists visiting China are South Korea, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, the United States, Japan, Mongolia, and Australia, which together accounted for 62% of all foreign tourists entering China during the first half of the year.
These figures reflect that China's relaxed travel policies and extended visa exemptions remain key drivers contributing to a strong recovery in tourism and cross-border travel this year.
