AirAsia and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) join forces to enhance their strategic cooperation and further stimulate tourism across the region.

July 10, 2569 – AirAsia Group Berhad (formerly AirAsia X Berhad) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have further strengthened their long-standing relationship by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, and other members of the Thai government. The collaboration aims to further promote Thailand as a leading tourist destination in the region.
This three-year cooperation framework (2026-2029) represents a shared commitment to stimulating tourism, strengthening regional connectivity, and inspiring more travelers to experience the diverse tourism offerings of Thailand.

Under this collaboration, AirAsia and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will work together on an integrated communication campaign, leveraging their marketing, communications, and tourism platforms to enhance Thailand's appeal and support continued growth in tourist numbers from key markets. Furthermore, both parties will collaborate closely to promote both existing and new flight routes, exchanging market insights to understand evolving travel trends and unlock new opportunities for tourism growth to its full potential.
Currently, AirAsia Group operates 123 flights per week between Malaysia and Thailand via AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) and Thai AirAsia (flight code FD), connecting travelers through 8 direct routes: flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok (Don Mueang), Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, and Hat Yai; flights from Penang to Bangkok (Don Mueang) and Phuket; and flights from Johor Bahru to Bangkok (Don Mueang). This extensive network consistently provides seamless and cost-effective connections for both countries.

This collaboration not only strengthens the relationship between AirAsia and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), but also supports Thailand's "Amazing Thailand, Feel All the Feelings" campaign and Malaysia's Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) program until 2570.
By combining the strengths of AirAsia's extensive network, digital ecosystem, and customer base with the Tourism Authority of Thailand's (TAT) destination expertise, both parties aim to promote two-way travel, increase tourism awareness, and enhance connectivity within ASEAN for sustainable growth.
