On July 10, 2026, at 1:10 PM, at Khlong Phuminath Damri (Khlong R.1), Bang Klam District, Songkhla Province. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul visited the area to monitor the progress of the repair work on Khlong Phuminath Damri canal. This is a crucial structure for flood prevention and mitigation in Hat Yai District. A report from the Royal Irrigation Department was also received regarding the readiness of the drainage system before the rainy season.

Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office. It was revealed that the Prime Minister inspected the damaged areas and closely monitored the repair plan, instructing all agencies to expedite the work to ensure the drainage system functions at full capacity, reduce flooding risks, and restore confidence among the people in the affected areas.

The Prime Minister stated that the government cannot control nature, but can prepare as best as possible. Therefore, it has accelerated the implementation of flood prevention measures in advance, including infrastructure repairs, budget allocation, emergency response plans, evacuation centers, and personnel deployment, to provide rapid assistance to the public in case of emergencies. He emphasized that all agencies must work proactively and not wait for problems to arise before addressing them.

The Prime Minister then met with the public at Wat Tha Chang, emphasizing that Hat Yai District is the economic hub of Southern Thailand, and any impact from flooding would affect the people, trade, tourism, and investment on a wide scale. Therefore, the government prioritizes strengthening the Phuminath Damri Canal and the entire water management system to protect lives, property, and the economy of the area.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the results of his official visit to Malaysia, stating that both countries agreed to continue cooperation in security, infrastructure development, transportation, trade, and tourism. This will enhance the potential of border areas and create more economic opportunities for people in southern Thailand.

The Prime Minister concluded by saying, “The government will closely monitor the progress and will continuously keep the public informed of the advancements. The main goal is to ensure the safety, peace of mind, and improved quality of life for the people, because all agencies are working together for the people.”
