“GULF Sparks Smiles” deploys a dental unit to Ayutthaya, offering youth volunteer opportunities to participate in the mission of improving the quality of life for Thai people.
Because strong dental health is the foundation of a good quality of life, Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF), in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, continues the “GULF Sparks Smiles: Bringing Bright Smiles to the Community, Year 6” project, providing free mobile dental services for the third time in 2026.
To provide residents of Nakhon Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, with convenient, rapid, and free access to oral and dental health care, as well as to encourage youth participation as volunteers, reinforcing the concept of "Powering the Future, Empowering the People" which aims to improve the quality of life for Thai people while simultaneously strengthening the country's economic infrastructure.
Mr. Sumet Phrommes, an elderly person in Nakhon Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. He shared his positive experience participating in the “GULF Sparks Smiles: Bringing Bright Smiles to the Community” project, saying, “I was interested in getting dental treatment because the mobile dental unit was providing services near my home, only 100 meters away. Thank you to GULF and Chulalongkorn University's Dental Faculty for providing free dental care to the residents of Bang Phra Kru, Nakhon Luang District, Ayutthaya Province. It's difficult for ordinary people to go to the dentist; some don't have transportation. For me, if my children are busy, I have to hire someone to take me. Extracting one tooth costs 500 baht, not including other expenses. This project is therefore very beneficial for people who are struggling to make ends meet. I am very happy and grateful.”

A volunteer dentist participating in this event revealed, “Mobile dental units provide opportunities for people who find it inconvenient to travel or have to wait for their children to take them to the hospital, as well as those who are afraid of dental work or worried about the cost, to access dental care more easily. In addition, even those who have free dental benefits still have to travel to the hospital early in the morning or wait in long queues. But with free dental services coming to their homes like this, these groups may be more open to receiving treatment and it will be more convenient. We would like to thank the 'GULF Sparks Smiles: Bringing Bright Smiles to the Community' project for giving dentists the opportunity to contribute to society and for the public to benefit fully. Finally, we want to encourage everyone to see a dentist because taking care of your teeth early is the best thing to do.”
In addition to volunteer dentists who provide services to the public, the project also provides opportunities for students to participate as youth volunteers. Ms. Patchtita Sritana-uthaikorn, a Grade 4 student at Crest School Bangkok. She shared, “I dream of becoming a dentist, so I applied to volunteer in this project. This volunteering experience was different from others because I got to actually help the doctors. At first, I was worried, but the doctors and their assistants guided me through the work, which really fulfilled my dream. I felt happy and inspired to apply to dental school. Even though the work was tiring, seeing the patients thank the doctors made me feel touched and proud to have contributed to their smiles. Thank you so much, GULF, for giving me this opportunity to participate. It helped me understand my dream profession even better, and I hope these opportunities will continue to be offered.”
Over the past six years, the “GULF Sparks Smiles: Bringing Bright Smiles to Communities” project has helped over 6,500 Thais maintain healthy oral health and create brighter smiles. This is achieved by providing free dental services and knowledge through mobile units, particularly for underprivileged individuals or those living in remote areas. These services include check-ups, scaling, fillings, extractions, wisdom tooth removal, and fluoride treatments. The project will continue its activities throughout 2026.
