The Bank of Thailand extends the 'Asset and Debt Moratorium' program until December 31, 2570, to help businesses recover, along with support through SMEs Secure+ and Soft Loan programs.

July 17, 69 – Mr. Vitai Ratanakorn, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT) It has been revealed that, as per the Bank of Thailand's (BOT) "Asset and Debt Moratorium" program launched in 2021 to assist businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and experiencing liquidity problems, by allowing them to transfer collateral assets to financial institutions to settle debts and granting them the right to repurchase within a period of 5 years, there are currently over 400 businesses participating in the program whose repurchase rights will gradually expire starting in July 2026.

In the past, the Bank of Thailand and the government have continuously supported financial institutions in utilizing existing measures to help businesses access funding for repurchasing assets, such as the "SMEs Secure+" loan program and the Government Savings Bank's low-interest loan (Soft Loan) program.

However, some businesses are still affected by both the economic situation and the ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. Although they intend to repurchase assets, they are still in the recovery phase and need more time to secure funding. The Bank of Thailand has therefore extended the period for exercising the right to repurchase assets under the program until no later than December 31, 2570, to give businesses that still have potential additional time to secure funding and continue their operations.

Businesses wishing to extend the repurchase period for their assets are urged to contact their financial institutions to complete the necessary procedures before the original contract expires. Businesses with sufficient liquidity and funding can repurchase the assets as originally planned to regain ownership as soon as possible.
