Globlex Securities forecasts the Thai stock market to fluctuate within the range of 1,610-1,650 points this week, facing pressure from US chip stocks and tensions in the Middle East. They recommend an investment strategy in response to the new PDP plan, highlighting four power plant stocks: GULF, BGRIM, GPSC, and GUNKUL.

July 20, 2569 Ms. Wilawanee Boonmasungsong, Assistant Managing Director, Globlex Securities Co., Ltd. or GBS It was revealed that despite the market being pressured by external factors, causing the index to fluctuate due to selling pressure on US chip stocks, which also resulted in selling pressure on ETRON stocks in the Thai market,

While tensions in the Middle East remain uncertain, the index is expected to trade within a range of 1,610-1,650 points. Positive factors supporting the market include a strong US economy, such as lower-than-expected June inflation figures, improved June retail sales, a better-than-expected Mid-Atlantic manufacturing index, and lower-than-expected weekly jobless claims, reflecting continued economic recovery.

Regarding positive factors within the country: The Ministry of Commerce reported a 2.13% growth in new business establishments during the first half of 2569, with online retail showing particularly strong growth of 56.9%. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance is preparing to launch 4,000 billion baht worth of "Savings Plus" government bonds as an alternative savings option for the public.

However, external risk factors should be closely monitored, including the potentially prolonged conflict in the Middle East, the Bank of Korea's (BOK) interest rate hikes to curb inflation, and the new US import tariffs that could impact trading partners worldwide.

Furthermore, key economic factors that will affect investment trends should be monitored, both domestically and internationally. Domestically, attention should be paid to the Prime Minister's visit to China from July 16-20, along with important government reports such as the Ministry of Commerce's international trade report, the Federation of Thai Industries' automotive production and export figures, the industrial production index, and economic reports from the Fiscal Policy Office and the Bank of Thailand at the end of the month. A key highlight is the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting no. 4/69 on August 26.

Regarding external factors that need to be monitored: Key events to watch include the People's Bank of China's (PBOC) Loan Prime Minister (LPR) announcement on July 20th, the EU's economic sentiment index report and Japan's trade balance figures on July 21st-22nd, the European Central Bank (ECB) meeting on July 23rd, and finally, developments from the US, including weekly economic data releases and the Federal Reserve (FED) meeting on July 28th-29th. These are all crucial factors that will impact global investor confidence.

Mr. Watcharin Chongyonyong, Director of Research, Globlex Securities This investment strategy focuses on stocks that benefit from the new Power Development Plan (PDP) 2026 (2569-2593), including GULF, BGRIM, GPSC, and GUNKUL. These stocks will benefit from the government's energy policy to promote Thailand as a hub for future industries in the region and drive towards the Net Zero goal by 2593.
