The Global Times praised Anutin's visit to China, noting his sincerity and proactive approach, which boosted confidence among Chinese investors. They view Thailand as a potential investment base and a gateway to the ASEAN market.
On July 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed the results of the monitoring of news coverage by Chinese media regarding Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's visit to China. She stated that Global Times (环球时报), a leading Chinese media outlet, presented a positive report on the visit, reflecting the Chinese business sector's perception of the Prime Minister's sincerity and proactive approach in meeting with entrepreneurs, listening to their suggestions, and inviting Chinese companies to consider expanding investment in Thailand. This is a positive signal that helps boost Chinese investor confidence in Thailand.
The Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office stated that Global Times values the opinion of a member of the Board of Directors of the Thai-Chinese New Business Association, who indicated that "sincerity and concrete actions are core values of Prime Minister Anutin's visit to China." They also viewed this approach as reflecting the Thai government's commitment to promoting tangible economic cooperation and building confidence among Chinese businesses in planning long-term investments in Thailand.
Furthermore, Global Times reported that the Prime Minister assured Chinese businesses of the government's intention to improve Thailand's investment climate. This includes enhancing approval processes, reducing administrative procedures, and implementing robust anti-corruption measures to create a transparent, fair, and investment-friendly business environment. This reflects that the visit was not only aimed at attracting investment but also at listening to feedback and pushing for systemic solutions to obstacles.
The report also assesses that Thailand has the potential to be an investment base and a gateway to the ASEAN market, given its ready infrastructure, key industrial chains, and strategic location. This provides an opportunity to expand Thai-Chinese cooperation from individual investment projects to deeper collaboration in industry, technology, and innovation in the future.
“The positive views expressed by Chinese media and businesses regarding this visit demonstrate their confidence in Thailand’s potential, both as an economic partner and a gateway to the ASEAN market. The government is ready to build upon this interest to foster concrete cooperation in areas such as investment, technology, workforce skills development, and job creation, always prioritizing the benefits for Thailand and its people,” Ms. Lalida said.
