The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) and the Ministry of Defence are pushing forward with "Tech Forces" to upgrade the military for the modern era and tackle cybersecurity challenges.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) and the Ministry of Defence are joining forces on the “Tech Forces Program,” aiming to upgrade the skills of military personnel in the digital age, cultivate a new generation of soldiers, enhance cyber skills, and guarantee employment after discharge.

August 8, 2569 Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE) Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society, also attended a meeting with Air Chief Marshal Suchart Theprak, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, to discuss the implementation of...The “Tech Forces Program” To promote and develop digital skills for soldiers and volunteers, a meeting was held with Ms. Chomparee Chompurat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), along with executives from the Ministry of DE and the Ministry of Defence, at Room 203, 2nd Floor, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society Building.

Mr. Chaiyanok stated that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has held discussions with the Ministry of Defense regarding the implementation of the “Tech Forces Program” to promote and develop digital skills among soldiers and volunteers. The DE Ministry will be responsible for supporting the curriculum for developing technology skills among military and volunteer personnel. A working group will be established to study the project details and expedite its completion by September 2569.

This skills development aims to provide selected personnel with additional technological skills in various aspects, applicable to their careers and duties while serving as soldiers in various departments, aligning with the trained skills. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society will select suitable training courses from relevant agencies, such as skills training programs from depa and ETDA. Upon completion of the course, graduates will be able to utilize their knowledge to assist their assigned units and, after completing their military service, pursue their desired careers.

Another aspect of upgrading digital skills for soldiers and volunteers will enhance personnel for cybersecurity threat prevention and promote digital resilience. This is a collaborative effort between the two ministries to ensure that soldiers and volunteers are prepared for digital threats.

"Having served in the military myself, I understand what it's like to be a soldier and I want the selected personnel to have additional skills in the diverse technologies available today. This will not only help them perform tasks in units that match their skills, but also allow them to use these skills in their careers after discharge. Both ministries will establish a joint working group to develop courses that meet the needs of soldiers and volunteers."

The volunteer military program will begin in September 2569, recruiting 25,000 individuals with a 4-year contract. This will include 6 weeks of basic military training, 4 weeks of Tech Forces Program training, and subsequent selection for assignment to appropriate units.
