The government affirms that it is providing full medical care to those injured in the school shooting in Nonthaburi province and has also dispatched a team to provide psychological support.

The government confirms that those affected by the school shooting in Nonthaburi province are receiving full medical treatment without any restrictions. A team will also be dispatched to provide ongoing psychological support to students and their families for three months. It was reported that 13 individuals have already been discharged.

August 9, 2569 – Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Government Spokesperson An update on the care of those affected by the violence at Thepsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi Province, citing information from the Ministry of Public Health as of 10:00 AM, reveals that there are currently 36 individuals involved, comprising 27 injured and 9 fatalities. The number of fatalities remains unchanged, with no further reports.

Of the 27 injured, 13 have now been discharged, while 14 remain hospitalized. These 14 are classified as critically ill, 5 as moderately ill, and 4 as mildly ill. Eight of them have undergone surgery, and there are no patients awaiting transfer, as all have received appropriate treatment at hospitals with the necessary capabilities.

Of the 14 patients still receiving treatment, they are spread across 8 hospitals. These include: Phra Nang Klao Hospital (3 cases), Phra Mongkutklao Hospital (3 cases), Siriraj Hospital (2 cases), Chulalongkorn Hospital (1 case), Kasemrad International Hospital (2 cases), Kasemrad Rattanathibet Hospital (1 case), Thonburi 2 Hospital (1 case), and Bang Kruai Hospital (1 case).

Today, there are plans to discharge two more patients home after their condition improved and doctors assessed that they can be cared for at home.

The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office, public and private hospitals, and the National Institute of Emergency Medicine, has launched a medical and public health incident command system to continuously monitor symptoms and coordinate treatment for patients. It was confirmed that all injured individuals would receive full standard care without any limitations on costs or medical insurance coverage.

In addition to physical treatment, the Ministry of Public Health has also deployed Mental Health Crisis Intervention Teams (MCATT) to the area to provide care for students, teachers, staff, families of the injured and deceased, as well as eyewitnesses, in order to continuously assess and monitor the mental health impact over periods of 2 weeks, 1 month, and 3 months.

“The government expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and assures that all those injured will receive the best possible care. At the same time, the support will not end with treating physical injuries, but will also include ongoing psychological care for students, teachers, families, and all those affected.” The deputy spokesperson for the Prime Minister said:

We request the cooperation of the media and the public to avoid publishing images of violence, the injured, or the deceased, as well as personal information of those affected, in order to avoid causing further distress.
