Anutin pushes forward with proactive diplomacy to bring Thailand back onto the global radar, attracting investment and opening new markets.

The government highlights its proactive diplomatic efforts after Anutin Charnvirakul held discussions with leaders of nine countries, focusing on expanding markets and pushing for Thailand's entry into the OECD by 2028, aiming to triple trade between Thailand and New Zealand.
August 24, 2026, 10:21 AM. Today (Monday, August 24, 2026) at 9:30 AM, at the Press Room 1 (Ring 1) in front of the Nareesamosorn Building, Government House, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that on the occasion of the upcoming House of Representatives session and the expected no-confidence debate, the government is prepared to clarify to the House and the public with factual information and verifiable results, especially the results of the government's foreign policy. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, also Minister of Interior, has employed a proactive diplomatic policy to bring Thailand back into the spotlight of the global community and has "elevated good relations to create opportunities for the country" in trade, investment, technology, security, and employment.
Previously, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul made official trips abroad and participated in regional conferences, holding discussions with leaders of nine countries: the Philippines, France, Russia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Thailand welcomed visiting foreign leaders, including Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Next week, Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will visit Thailand on September 2, 2569. All missions are strategically linked to the chaotic global situation and climate change, aligning with the approach of strengthening ASEAN, promoting regional cooperation and economic resilience, and aiming to expand markets, attract investment, and foster innovation.
Regarding investment promotion, the Prime Minister's visits to various countries have included discussions with foreign investors, and business matching events have been arranged between Thai and foreign investors. The Prime Minister has instructed the Board of Investment (BOI) to continuously monitor progress in order to promote actual investment.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister sought support for Thailand's membership in the OECD by 2571, while reiterating Thailand's commitment to peaceful methods, dialogue, and international law, as well as its focus on security partnerships and combating transnational crime.
During his recent visit to Australia, the Prime Minister continued the strategic partnership in future industries, innovation, and education, while also enhancing cooperation in combating transnational crime, call center scams, and cyber threats.
In addition, the Prime Minister also held discussions with Canva, a global design platform, to promote the creative economy and connect Thai creators and SMEs to the international market.
As Thailand and New Zealand elevate their relationship to a “strategic partnership,” aiming to triple trade value to US$7.5 billion by 2045, they are preparing to launch direct flights between Bangkok and Auckland in 2027 and inviting leading private sector investors, such as Skyline Enterprises in the tourism and leisure sector, and T&G Global in agriculture and food, to promote Thailand as a regional distribution hub.
Furthermore, the government's proactive diplomacy is reflected in its open house receptions for foreign leaders, providing opportunities to further develop leadership-level relations and define the direction of joint cooperation. Previously, the Prime Minister welcomed Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on May 28, 2569, and Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, on August 6, 2569.
Preparations are also underway to welcome Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, who is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand on September 2, 2569. This reflects Thailand's role as an important country in driving regional cooperation and the confidence of friendly nations in Thailand.
“The government is ready to be scrutinized and to provide explanations to Parliament and the public with data and facts. The success of proactive diplomacy is not measured solely by the number of countries the Prime Minister visits, but also by the actual results, including the creation of economic opportunities, investment, security, and cooperation in various fields. Thailand's continued honor of welcoming foreign leaders reflects the role and trust that the international community has in Thailand and confirms that Thailand has once again returned to the 'global radar' as a reliable friend and ally of all parties. The government is ready to transform international relations and cooperation into tangible economic and security opportunities for the benefit of the Thai people,” Ms. Rachada concluded.
