Strategy makes a comeback, buying Bitcoin after 2 months, adding another 4,603 BTC.

Strategy proceeded with another Bitcoin purchase for the first time in two months, investing $370 million to push its holdings to 845,050 BTC, while also increasing its cash reserves and repurchasing STRC preferred shares.
September 1, 2026 - Strategy purchased Bitcoin (BTC) for the first time in two months, continuing to increase its cash reserves and repurchase perpetual shares of STRC. Strategy bought 4,603 BTC at an average price of $80,318, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 845,050 BTC. This accumulation was made using a total of $63.3 billion, or an average cost of $75,413 per Bitcoin, according to the company's Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday.
The CoinTelegraph website reports that Strategy's Bitcoin purchase was funded by net proceeds of $602 million from the sale of MSTR common stock. The company used $30 million of these funds to increase its US dollar cash reserves and another $151.8 million to repurchase STRC preferred stock.
MSTR shares, listed on the Nasdaq, rose less than 1% in pre-market trading on Monday after falling more than 7% on Friday. This move marks Strategy's first purchase of Bitcoin since mid-June, when the company bought 1,587 BTC for approximately $100 million.
Previously, Michael Saylor, co-founder and CEO of Strategy, signaled that the company would be buying Bitcoin again by posting "We're Back" on platform X, which garnered widespread attention.
Saylor is known for posting short, suggestive messages or hints over the weekend before the company officially announced its move to add Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
Strategy's perpetual preferred stock, STRC, rose 0.44% in pre-market trading on Monday to $97.33, a 2.67% discount from its target par value of $100, according to Yahoo Finance.
STRC is considered one of the key mechanisms used by Strategy to raise funds for accumulating Bitcoin. However, the fact that STRC shares are trading below their par value limits Strategy's ability to raise funds through issuing and selling STRC shares.
This situation may also force the company to increase its dividend payout in order to attract investors to buy STRC and help maintain the share price at a suitable level.
According to a Form 8-K filing on June 29, Strategy disclosed a Capital Framework that allows the company to sell Bitcoin to fund dividend payments and increase the annual dividend yield on STRC preferred stock to 12%. Prior to this, Strategy revealed it sold 32 BTC in early June, marking its first reported Bitcoin sale since a tax-related transaction in 2022.
