Donald Trump is preparing to host a formal dinner to welcome Xi Jinping during his visit to Washington on September 24th, while emphasizing that US-China relations remain good despite disagreements over Iran and ongoing economic competition.

On September 5, 2569, Bloomberg News reported that U.S. President Donald Trump revealed he would host a formal dinner in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 24, during the Chinese leader's visit to Washington later this month.

Trump told reporters on Friday, September 4, that relations between the United States and China remain good, stating that the two countries can work well together even though China is a major rival of the United States in many areas.

"We have a very good trade relationship. Even though China is a competitor, I have a good relationship with President Xi," Trump said.

The U.S. leader also revealed that Xi Jinping will visit the United States with his wife, Peng Liyuan. This visit marks another significant milestone in relations between the two countries, following the escalation of trade tensions and tariffs between the U.S. and China, before a trade truce was reached, paving the way for the resumption of leadership-level talks.

Previously, Trump visited China in early 2569 and invited Xi Jinping and his wife to visit the White House on September 24th, following their summit in Beijing.

However, relations between Washington and Beijing still face challenges, particularly those between China and Iran, as China remains Iran's largest oil buyer and has not responded to U.S. demands that Beijing reduce or cease trade with Tehran.

Trump said he had asked Xi Jinping not to get involved in the conflict in Iran, adding that China had not yet played a direct role. Meanwhile, the U.S. government continues to increase economic pressure on Iran in order to push for a deal to end the conflict that has lasted more than six months.
