The government is preparing to increase the compensation budget for those affected by the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border by another 240.75 million baht, covering citizens and government officials from December 26, 2568 to July 23, 2569.

On September 8, 2026, at 1:15 PM, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government is preparing to increase the compensation budget for those affected by the conflict along the Thai-Cambodian border by an additional 240.75 million baht. This is to provide further assistance to affected citizens and government officials during the period of December 26, 2025, to July 23, 2026, ensuring continuous, comprehensive, and rightful compensation.

This additional budget allocation will come from the central government's emergency reserve fund, distributed as follows: 65 million baht to the Ministry of Interior, 166.25 million baht to the Ministry of Defence, and 9.5 million baht to the Royal Thai Police. These three agencies will be responsible for disbursing the funds to those affected according to established criteria.

Ms. Lalida stated that this allocation is a continuation of the Cabinet resolution of December 30, 2568, which approved the criteria and framework for the original compensation budget of 577.3 million baht for those affected during the period of August 3 - December 25, 2568. The resolution stipulated that if there are additional affected individuals and the original budget is insufficient, the relevant agencies should request additional allocations according to the established procedures.

The Office of the National Security Council, as the central agency, has compiled information from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, and the Royal Thai Police. It has instructed all agencies to verify the names of those affected, information on injuries and deaths, and the requested allocation of funds to ensure accuracy, completeness, and currency, in order to prevent duplicate payments and ensure assistance reaches eligible recipients.

For the consideration of eligibility in cases of injury, the revised guidelines for compensation for those affected by the Thai-Cambodian border situation will be used. If the diagnosis changes subsequently, such as the death of a seriously injured person, the responsible agency must update the information and follow the procedures to ensure that the person receives the correct compensation.

The Ministry of Finance believes the proposed additional compensation rate is appropriate, while the Budget Bureau recommends allocating an additional 240.75 million baht, emphasizing that spending must adhere to established criteria and be auditable at every stage. The National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) has no objections and suggested expediting the allocation and disbursement to those affected as soon as possible.

“The government prioritizes the continued care of citizens and government officials affected by the border situation. This increase in funding aims to ensure that those eligible receive fair, comprehensive, and complete compensation. All agencies have been instructed to expedite the verification of information and disbursement of funds to those affected as quickly as possible,” Ms. Lalida said.
