CMDF organizes Capital Market Research Symposium 2026, highlighting capital market research to enhance savings and investment in Thailand.

CMDF organized the 2nd Capital Market Research Symposium 2026, providing a platform to connect research with policy development, promote financial inclusiveness, enhance financial literacy, encourage saving and investment, and prepare Thais for a sustainable retirement.
On September 9, 2026, the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), through the Capital Market Research Institute (CMRI), organized the “CMDF/CMRI Capital Market Research Symposium 2569” at the Professor Sangwien Intravichai Auditorium, Stock Exchange of Thailand. The symposium aimed to disseminate knowledge and research findings on the capital market, as well as provide a platform for exchanging ideas among policymakers, regulators, the capital market sector, academics, researchers, investors, and related organizations.
This seminar, now in its second year, focuses on Financial Inclusiveness, which is not limited to increasing access to financial services for everyone, but also encompasses improving the quality of participation in capital markets, promoting informed saving and investment, and creating an ecosystem that facilitates access to appropriate, high-quality, and equitable financial information, products, and tools.
Professor Kitipong Urapipattanapong, Chairman of the Capital Market Development Fund, opened the event by stating that amidst technological, economic, and demographic changes, building financial security for the public requires a systematic approach. This includes laying the foundation for financial literacy, promoting saving discipline, providing access to investment through the capital market, and preparing for retirement. Research therefore plays a crucial role in helping us understand the problems comprehensively and enabling the development of policies or measures that truly address the needs of the people.
The event included a special lecture on the topic of "Integrating Financial Literacy in Universities: A Key Mechanism for Human Capital Development" by Professor Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. This lecture reflected the importance of integrating financial literacy into the higher education system to lay the foundation for students before they enter the labor market and to empower the younger generation to manage income, debt, savings, investment, and financial risks appropriately.
Another key event was a panel discussion on the topic "Transforming Thai Savings and Investment: From Working Age to Sustainable Retirement," which presented and linked the findings of three research projects funded by CMDF:
(1) The “Enhancing Savings through Capital Market Channels” project by the Thailand Development Research Institute.
(2) Project “Study of guidelines for managing retirement funds of permanent employees who have accumulated savings from provident funds” by the National Institute of Development Administration.
(3) Project “Guidelines for the formulation of the Thailand Personal Savings Account (TISA) policy” by Thammasat University.
These three research projects provide a comprehensive overview of Thailand's savings system, ranging from incentivizing and modifying saving behavior during working years to increasing access to capital markets and managing finances and generating sufficient income for retirement. The seminar provided an opportunity for networking and collaboration between the government, business, academia, and the capital market sectors to jointly develop a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable savings and investment system in Thailand.
In addition, the event included the 1st Capital Market Research Awards ceremony, recognizing and promoting high-quality research that is beneficial to the development of the Thai capital market. The awards were divided into two categories: equity research conducted by the Stock Exchange of Thailand and fixed income research conducted by the Thai Bond Market Association, with funding support from CMDF. A summary of the Best Paper awards in each category was also presented.
Mr. Chakchai Boonyawat, Manager of the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), stated that the CMDF/CMRI Capital Market Research Symposium 2026 reflects the role of CMDF and CMRI in supporting education, research, and the development of knowledge in the capital market. This is coupled with efforts to promote the practical application of research findings and their development into policy recommendations or operational guidelines that enhance the financial security of the public and the sustainable growth of the Thai capital market.
