Thai stocks closed down 4.00 points, pressured by selling on DELTA and bank stocks going ex-dividend (XD). Energy stocks helped support the index.

Thai stocks closed today, September 9th, at 1,617.89 points, down 4.00 points, with a trading value of 81,330 million baht. Selling pressure on electronics components stocks and some bank stocks that went ex-dividend (XD) weighed on the index. Concerns about the ongoing tensions in the Middle East also contributed to the rise in oil prices. However, energy stocks, which are linked to oil prices, helped support the index.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index on September 9 closed at 1,617.89 points, down 4.00 points (-0.25%). Trading value 81,330.74 million baht. Foreigners net bought 3,136.62 million baht. Funds sold net 959.95 million baht.
Today there was trading on the big board (BIG LOT) of 19 securities, 25 items. GULF was found to have the highest value of 1,705.35 million baht, with an average price of 62.50 baht per share.
Mr. Chaiporn Nompitakcharoen, Managing Director of Securities Trading at Bualuang Securities, said that the Thai stock market declined today and traded within a range. Selling pressure came from DELTA shares, the electronics components sector, and some bank stocks that went ex-dividend (XD), which weighed on the index. Concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East also contributed to the decline.
However, the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the continued upward trend in crude oil prices have supported energy stocks, which are dependent on oil prices. This has helped to prop up the index, and specific positive factors within the PTT group of stocks have prevented the index from falling sharply, even when it did.
Tomorrow's (September 10, 2569) trend is expected to be sideways within a range, as we await the release of the US August inflation figures on Friday night, September 11. Resistance is seen at 1,630 points, and support at 1,610 points.
